KOLKATA : Chief Minister Mamta Banerjee inaugrates the second campus of Presidency University on Monday, The campus lies on 10-acre sprawling plot which houses two 14- storied vertical academic and administrative towers including hostels. The prestigious institute will begin intake from the upcoming academic session beginning 2019-2020.
While addressing a host of luminaries and educationists which included vice-chancellors of other state universities, the CM expressed expectation that students seeking to pursue higher education in various divergent emerging fields will now find the second campus a new destination.
The university has decided to introduce post-masters and research-oriented programmes at the Rajarhat campus. It will be the first in Bengal to offer seven unique schools of study, boosting interdisciplinary courses, vice chancellor Anuradha Lohia has informed.
She expressed desire that more students will be encouraged to stay in the state to pursue higher education. “Cyber-crime is now a vast area and expands over some major crime nowadays. It is sometimes even graver than physical crime. A single post can have huge consequence. That you have thought about teaching such emerging subject which is relevant will benefit students,” said chief minister Mamata Banerjee.
