KOLKATA: The problem of water scarcity in some Salt Lake blocks may be far from over as the Bidhannagar Municipal Corporation is yet to identify the actual reason behind the supply shortage. The ongoing poll season may stretch the torment further.  

The water pressure might be better in the morning than other times of the day, but it does not help much as a lot of water is required during this time of the year,” said a resident of BL Block. “Salt Lake faces shortage of water supply during every summer as the demand goes up manifold. Families with two-three members might not face problems but it becomes tough in households that have more members,” another local added.

Civic officials are eagerly waiting for the upgraded water supply scheme to kick off, in which the civic body will receive 2 crore gallon filtered water supply per day from the New Town water treatment plant.
