New Delhi : Three-time Delhi Chief Minister and senior Congress stalwart Sheila Dikshit passed away on Saturday at the age of 81 in the national capital.

The senior Congress leader was the Chief Minister of Delhi for 15 years. Sheila Dikshit passed away at 3. 30 pm at a city hospital, media reports said.

Former Congress chief Rahul Gandhi expressed regret over the loss of senior Congress leader and called her beloved daughter of the Congress party.

In a tweet, Rahul Gandhi said, I’m devastated to hear about the passing away of Shiela Dikshit Ji, a beloved daughter of the Congress Party, with whom I shared a close personal bond. My condolences to her family & the citizens of Delhi, whom she served selflessly as a 3 term CM, in this time of great grief.

Other Congress leader and Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot also expressed shock over the demise of Sheila Dikshit.

In a tweet, Rajasthan Cheif Minister Ashok Gehlot said, Deeply shocked and anguished to know about the demise of Sheila Dikshit Ji. it is a great loss for Congress Party. She was a mass leader and would be hugely missed. May her soul RIP and may God give strength to the bereaved family.

Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra also tweeted over the demise of senior Congress leader.

In a tweet, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, said, Deeply saddened by the demise of Sheila Dikshit Ji. She loved me, whatever she did for Delhi&the country, people will remember it. She was a big leader of party, her contribution towards the party, politics of nation & especially to Delhi, is immense.
