KOLKATA : A junior doctor at Burdwan Medical College and Hospital (BMCH) allegedly cut a two-month-old baby´s tip of right hand thumb with half of the nail while making a saline channel on Tuesday. The baby´s father lodged a written complaint with the medical superintendent-cum-vice principal of the hospital about the negligence of the doctor on Thursday. The hospital authorities set up a four-member inquiry committee following the complaint.
Amitava Saha, deputy superintendent of BMCH, said, After receiving the complaint from the baby´s father, we have set up a four- member inquiry committee. We have also asked the heads of pediatrics department and surgery department to submit a detail report about the matter. We have checked and found that the baby´s injury was minor.
