KOLKATA: Now that the commissioning of East-West Metro´s first phase is imminent, a preparedness meet was convened at Metro Bhavan on Thursday. Operational issues like Communication-Based Train Control (CBTC) were discussed, sources said.

The meeting in connection with certain operation issues related to commencement of revenue service at E-W corridor was done by the principal chief operations manager (PCOM), Satyaki Nath. All involved in operations of the truncated stretch attended the conference at Metro Bhavan on Thursday.

Kolkata Metro Rail Corporation (KMRC), the implementing agency, is currently in the process of handing over the stretch between Sector V and Salt Lake Stadium to Metro Railway.

A three-day service trial is being planned from October 30 for seamless commercial runs. Officials said the meeting was essential for thrashing out issues that had cropped up during the first round of service trials held between October 15 and 17.

Metro Railway´s CPRO Indrani Banerjee said: It was an internal meeting like that of any other organization.. . trying to sort out certain technical problems which have come up during our trials.
