One BJP worker shot dead in West Bengal, while two are badly injured

Sandip Ghosh,a BJP worker was allegedly shot dead while another seriously injured in an attack in Durgapur, West Burdwan district on Sunday night.

The 21-year-old Gosh, BJP booth level president Sandip Ghosh and party worker Jaidip Banerjee were returning home after attending a meeting when they were attacked by the miscreants at Malandighi Saraswatigunj area of the district on Sunday night, they said.

Babul Supriyo,the Union minister said Ghosh was brutally shot dead while he was returning home after a party meeting in Malandighi Saraswati Gunj.

The injured said TMC-sheltered sand mafia Saiful were behind the attack, Supriyo added.

The country is watching Mamata Banerjee´s terror rule closely. 2019 will bring an end to the Mamata government, Bengal BJP said on Twitter, also sharing a gruesome image of Ghosh´s body.

Party worker Jaidip Banerjee has been admitted to a private hospital in Durgapur.

Bijay Ghosh, the father of the deceased, said his son had told him that he was going to attend a picnic.

The BJP alleged that Ghosh was killed by TMC goons.

However, a Trinammol Congress district leader have denied the allegations and said that BJP´s internal party rivalry was responsible for Ghosh´s death.

The party has alleged that Ghosh was murdered by the sand mafia, also accusing Trinamool Congress goons of being hand in glove.

While Opposition parties have blamed TMC´s hooliganism, the ruling party in West Bengal has defended itself and blamed the BJP for importing this violent culture to West Bengal.

In the past few months, the state has seen a spike in cases of political violence. Political violence has been rampant in West Bengal with frequent incidents between the Trinamool Congress and BJP, each party blaming the other for attacks on its workers as well as murders.
