Mamata Banerjee on Monday stepped up her attack on Narendra Modi, striking a contrast between Trinamool as a party that keeps its promises and BJP as a purveyor of lies. “We keep promises we make, unlike Modi babu who is a pack of lies. What has he done in the last five years? He has looted people and toured the world over, while people plunged into poverty and distress,” the West Bengal chief minister said in an attack on the Prime Minister. Amid the anti-Modi tirade, the CM had a word of reassurance for storm victims of Burdwan. “This region was hit by a storm yesterday. We are with the victims. Our government will allocate at least Rs 300 crore for relief and rehabilitation. You shouldn’t worry,” she said. In the same breath, Banerjee reminded people how farmers and small traders had suffered after the Modi government announced demonetisation. “It has destroyed families, industries and created chaos. Two crore jobs were lost during this time. Now, you have an opportunity to remove this government that caused so much distress,” she said.
