Online post office of Dhanbad frustrates over 13,000 customers

Dhanbad : Since the General Post Office got online emulating the Ranchi GPO with Core Banking Solution (CBS), over 13,000 customers are getting frustrated owing to long queues and erratic links.

Post office of Dhanbad went online in the second week of November last year but the staffs are yet to get a hang of the new system. Number and length of queues have increased but to no relief to the customers.

Account holders of the post office are compelled to spend more time for a transaction.“After 1 hour my turn came and I was told to first get the 10 digit account number from a different counter which is going to take another one and a half hour there after I will be back in the previous queue and not sure how much time will it take” said a frustrated customer Raj Kumar Bhattacharya who has his account with post office for the last 7 years.

Gaurave Ojha, a handicapped, who was facing trouble in standing for long, yelling at the counter staff asked that why don’t you have a separate counter for differently abled people. “I have never experienced this situation for the last 6 years” said Ojha while talking to our correspondent.

Sunil Kumar Chaurasia, Senior Post Master defending himself said “the system is new to the staff.

Though the staffs have been trained on CBS, they are yet to get a hang of the new system.

Over the period of time the staff will get used to the system and things will normalise”.

Chaurasia also informed that there are more facilites to come for the customers.

“Our customers will enjoy the facility of ATM cards and later on when the approval comes from Reserve Bank of India the Debit cards would replace the ATM cards” added Chaurasia.
