A teenager from Haridevpur on the city´s southern fringes drowned in the Hoogly while clicking selfie, reportedly in an inebriated state, at kulpi´s Nabadwip Ghat on Friday afternoon. The deceased, Rajib Das (18), a class 12 student of school in his neighbourhood, had gone to kulpi with five friends on Friday morning. The locals said that the six had been drinking alcohol. After that the boys started to walk along the river bank, clicking pictures. Around 3. 30 pm, as they walked on a narrow stretch of the bank, Das lost his balance and fell into the river. Kulpi Police station OC sudip singh said, we rushed to the spot, local divers were deployed to launch a rescue operation. A disaster management team, too reached the spot and joind in the rescue efforts.
