KOLKATA : The bypoll to Darjeeling assembly constituency will be held on May 19 and its votes will be counted along with those of the Lok Sabha seat the EC said.

The assembly seat fell vacant after the sitting MLA Amar Singh Rai of the TMC resigned following his nomination by the party to contest from the Darjeeling Lok Sabha constituency.

Polling for the Darjeeling parliamentary constituency was held on April 18 in the second phase.

The EC on Friday night said the notification for the Bypoll will be issued on April 22. The last day for filling nomination will be April 29 and the last date of withdrawal of candidature will be May 2.

EVM and VVPAT will be used in the by- election in the bypoll.
