Armed police aspirants caned in protest rally

Dhanbad : Police on Saturday morning resorted to lathicharge to disperse Jharkhand Armed Police (JAP) aspirants who had blocked the road at Randhir Verma Chawk demanding early publication of results in the 2013 examination.

Seeing the gravity of the situation, extra security forces were called in to the spot.

The square almost turned a war zone for over 20 minutes till all the agitators were forced to disperse.

It all happened when subdivisional magistrate (SDM) Abhisekh Srivastava reached the spot to tackle the issue.

However, he had to face the wrath of the protestors who raised slogans against the police, district administration and also chief minister Raghubar Das.

The agitators went aggressive and started jostling with the SDM when he requested to clear the roads.

However, no complaint has been lodged in this connection.

“The students were aggressive, but police took the matter tactically and removed the blockade without taking any hard action,” claimed AK Singh, officer in-charge of Dhanbad police station.

The protestors are still awaiting with bated breath the results of JAP examination they had appeared in 2013.

They have already appealed to the JAP top officials and also the chief minister for publication of the result, but in vain.

“The advertisement for the post of constable was published in February 2011. While physical tests and written examinations were completed in 2013, the final results are yet to be declared,” said Guddu Bharti, one of the aspirants from Dhanbad.

Another aspirant, Kripashankar of Baraigarha village under Nirsa block, said they had a filed an application in the Jharkhand High Court against the government's reluctance to publish the result.

“On December 16 last year, the court had given its decision in our favour.

However, three months have passed since the verdict but results have not been published,” said Kripashankar.

He said they also met the officials but yet were to get positive response.

Most of the aspirants have crossed the age-limit due to the delay, he claimed.
