Over 100 private school students join govt schools

Dhanbad : Parents of more than a 100 children in renowned private schools have got them admitted to government schools due to the increase in school fees and additional annual charges in the

form of readmission fee.
According to sources, students from renowned institutions such as De Nobili School, Indian School of Learning (ISL) and South Point Convent left their schools and got admitted to government

schools in their area. "Earlier there was a perception that government schools did not have a good academic atmosphere but gradually after seeing the performance of government school

children, perceptions have changed," said BB Singh, District Superintendent of Education, Dhanbad. He gave the credit for this to the drive "Vidyalaya Chalen Chalaayen Abhiyan.
According to the education department, about a 100 students from different private schools got enrolled in government schools for the session 2015-16.
"Altogether 128 children were enrolled this year in which 28 children are from private schools," said Dilip Kumar Karn, a senior teacher R Balwadi Middle School Dhanbad adding that their school

provides facilities of self-defense training for girls, computer classes, audio visual teaching, and various extracurricular activities which many private schools do not have.
Similarly, the principal of Government Middle School Dhaiya Shushila Kumari said their school has enrolled 18 students of private schools in last one week. "Our school has better infrastructure and

meets all the requirements of a good primary education institution," said Shushila.
Anita Kumari, a student of De Nobili School, who recently got admitted to class 8 at Government Middle School Dhaiya said her parents were facing difficulties as her previous school was

expensive. "I am getting better facilities in this school," said Anita who also appreciated the mid-day meal scheme.
Mamta Kumari, another student from De Nobili School, got admitted to class 4 at Balwadi Middle School. Poonam from Indian School of Learning enrolled in the Government Middle school Dhaiya

along with other students. Mamta and Poonam said they were happy in their new schools.
