Zero tolerance in Dhanbad Jail

Dhanbad: Since the new Inspector General (IG) (Prison) Suman Gupta took charge of the office Dhanbad Jail has been practicing zero tolerance in Jail security.

Every employees of jail are being frisked at the entrance gate so as to avoid entry of mobile phone or narcotic materials.

In the course of checking, a constable, Sunil Kumar Sinha was suspended on 28th June when he was caught taking packet of marijuana inside the Jail.

Sinha who is allegedly involved in facilitating narcotic materials to the prisoners used to hide the packets in his under garment which was found when the checking team frisked him.

“We have suspended Sinha from immediate effect and a departmental enquiry has been opened against him. Appropriate action would be taken against him after the enquiry” said Jail Superintendent, S C Jha.

On the directive of IG Gupta, most of the inmates  relatives who visit Jail to meet their near and dear ones are being provided video conferencing facility resulting in minimum rush at the Jail gate.

According to Jha, over 250 inmates avail the facility of video conferencing every week.

“For security reasons we try to minimize rush at the meeting gate and video conferencing facility is helping us in our efforts” said Jha.
