Coal belt workers in dilemma over original RCMS

Dhanbad : Workers of the coal belt are in a state of dilemma ever since different sections or Rashtriya Colliery Mazdoor Sangh (RCMS) claimed themselves as the original ones and others as fake.

Former parliamentarian, Chandrashekhar Dubey, former Jharkhand minster, Rajendra Singh and senior congress leader Lalan Chaubey had called press conference last week to prove that they are genuine and claimed others to be fake.

Chaubey, Singh and Dubey who are leaders of three different groups charged allegation against each other for misguiding the workers and claimed to have the support of all the coal workers.

The factionalism in RCMS is proving to be advantage for other trade unions. Grass root leaders of the RCMS are touch with other trade unions and are waiting for the right time to move out.

“Different groups that have been formed in RCMS have created a sense of insecurity among labourers and grass root leaders. Few of them are in contact with us and are contemplating to join us.

It could be fatal for RCMS as well as INTUC. I feel senior leaders of the Congress should interfere and settle the differences of these groups.” said Makru Mahato, District General Secretary, Bhartiya Mazdoor Sabha.

All the three sections of RCMS claim to have affiliation from Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC) and are registered in 12b of the labour department.

Friction among all the sections has been a hindrance for safety meeting of Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL) as representative of RCMS are members of the safety committee.

Sources in the Bharat Coking Coal (BCCL) said that the company recognizes all of them. As long as they have the support of coal workers they would be recognized by the organization.
