Inter State gang of snatchers nabbed

Dhanbad : In a Joint operation of Dhanbad and Purulia Police, five members of Interstate gang of snatchers were nabbed on Sunday morning.

Members of the gang who are resident of Koda of Katihar district in Bihar used to operate in Patna.

On a tip off, Dhanbad police came to know that they are entering into the territory of Jharkhand and a trap was organized for them under Sudamdih police station.

However two of them fled on Apache motorbike towards Purulia. In coordination with Purulia police the duo were nabbed.

“Modus operandi of the miscreants was that they used to identify soft targets like old people or women.

Whenever these public come out of banks the miscreants used to snatch the bag or even break the dickey of the vehicle and flee with cash or valuables” said Superintendent of Police, Rakesh Bansal, while talking to press.

Meanwhile a criminal, Raj Kumar Khatik, resident of Baniahir, Jharia was also arrested from Koiriebaandh, Jharia on Sunday evening. According to police he is involved in many cases of loot and robbery and the cases are registered with Jharia Police Station.

In an another success of Dhanbad Police, about five quintal of copper worth rupees 3 lakh was seized after raiding a Bolero in Chouthai Kulhi under Jharia police station.

Three persons, kallu, Amit Gupta and driver Tanveer were also arrested in the raid.

In a press conference at Bank More Police station, Bansal informed that cable thiefs from different parts of coal belt used to sell it to Kallu and after melting the copper it was being sourced to Kolkata based illegal traders.
