Rescued children reunited under operation Muskan

Dhanbad : Nine children of Dhanbad, Giridih and Jamtara districts those were recovered under operation Muskan   of Jharkhand police were reunited with their parents on Friday.

The Child Welfare committee (CWC) after daylong hearing handed over the children to their parents.

According to the information, so far 161 children have been rescued under ongoing operation Muskan in which 32 children were from Dhanbad, Giridih Jamtara and Bokaro.

All the recovered children were produced before the CWC chairperson, after which they were handed over to their parents.  

“So far nine parents and guardians were traced out on the basis of the information given by children and Child Line members,” said Nita Sinha, Chairperson CWC.

CWC chairperson said, they(CWC) along with Child Line Dhanbad is searching parents and guardians of other rescued children to reunite them with their families.

“The reunion programme of children with their parents will continue as each and every child recovered need  to be repatriated ,” said Nita Sinha.

The parents also expressed their gratitude to the Police CWC and Child Line officials for rescuing and reuniting their children with them.

“I am thankful to the police and CWC who rescued my son after a fortnight,” said Lakshmi Devi, resident of Jharia who was happy after reunion with her 12 years old son Abhishek Kumar who was found working as domestic servant.

According to the state police, at least 1281 children of the state are missing since 2000.

In the first phase of operation Muskan started in April, police had found 153 missing children in which 77 were from Jharkhand.

The second phase of the operation that has been started since July is still on. Police teams are raiding areas of Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, and Utter Pradesh along with some areas of southern India.
