Dhanbad : Despite of a fortnight of the case registered against stepmother under Protection of child under sexual offense (POCSO), Dhanbad police yet to nab the accused.

The Child Welfare committee, (CWC) has expressed annoyance over reluctance of police.

Nita Sinha, Chairperson, CWC Dhanbad expressing concern over police reluctance said, the district police is not sensitive enough to take children related crimes.

“A minor boy was harassed sexually by his step mother despite, police plays insensitive role in the matter,” said Chairperson adding that she will bring the matter in notice of  senior police officials.

According to CWC official fortnight ago , a case of sexual harassment of a male child by her stepmother was registered with Jharia police station. Despite  this police didn’t take action on alleged accused.

“In several cases regarding child harassment and child abuse, police didn’t take action after being of case registered under POCSO act,” said Chairperson.  

One of the relative of the victim boy has also leveled the similar charges on police. “On the name of investigation, police is stretching the matter, and even didn’t question  the accused lady despite of POSCO,” said Delhi based relative of the victim boy, wishing not to publish her name.

On the other hand, Police is tightlipped on the issue. “The accused lady will be nabbed soon,” said Vikash Pandey, Deputy Superintendent Police (DSP) Sindri area.

It bears to recall that, a ten-year-old boy was sexually harassed by her stepmother. When father of victim boy protested against it, she (stepmother) filed a dowry harassment case against husband and the police put him behind bars.

When the aunt of the boy, a resident of Delhi, came to know of it, she informed the Jharia police who rescued the child from the clutches of his stepmother.

According to reports, the mother of the boy had passed away in 2005 barely five months after his birth, so his father remarried in 2007. However, as the boy grew up, his stepmother forced him to watch porn films. During this period, his aunt had come to Dhanbad and took him to Delhi.

A year later when she came to Dhanbad with the child, both his father and stepmother did not let him return  to Delhi.

However, the woman continued to sexually harass the boy and when his father objected to it, she got him arrested on the charge of dowry harassment.
