Students boil on VBU VC

Dhanbad : Hundreds of irate students on Saturday raised voice against Vinoba Bhave University (VBU) administration following their demand to extend the examination date of Bachelor part-III scheduled from April 15.

Students under the banner of Yuva Chhatra Jagran Manch (YCJM) protested at PK Roy Memorial college campus and burnt the effigy of Vice Chancellor at college gate.

“University administration is violating the guidelines of University Grant Commission (UGC) by conducting examination without completing syllabus,” said Shashi Sekhar Yadav, YCJM chief.

According to Yadav, the college has not even organized 30 classes properly while 180 classes should be conducted in a session as per directive of UGC.

“It is injustice with the students as how one can prepare him/herself for examination without study,” said Yadav adding that the decision was arbitrary and irrational.

The students also threatened to intensify their protest, if university administration doesn’t consider their demands.

“If university administration doesn’t extend date of examination, the students are compelled to descend on roads,” said Yadav, adding that they will block National Highway (NH-32) on Tuesday as part of their protest.

On the other hand VBU administration is not ready to bring any change in the examination schedule.

“The decision has been taken in favour of the students as we have the regularize the session,” said Dr Gurdeep Singh Vice Chancellor, VBU.
