Police nab eight for women trafficking

Dhanbad : Bride-trade has emerged as a lucrative and intensifying business for human traffickers in the state. It is silently in operation with the help of the migrant laborers and their relatives across state.

This came to fore on Friday night in Dhanbad with arrest of eight persons of Rajasthani origin including one female.

Dhanbad police, on a tip off nabbed eight peoples of Rajasthan who allegedly had arrived here  to purchase bride.

Police is also trying to contact with Rajasthan police to know the background of alleged traffickers.

“Whether they reached here for marriage negotiation or indulge in woman trafficking is a matter of probe,” said Amit Kumar, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Dhanbad
According to DSP, Baghmara police raided a house located at Luttipahari under Baghmara police station and caught eight including a woman.

“We got information regarding some strange people stayed in a house,” said DSP who led the operation.

A team of police on Friday late evening raided at the house of Dinesh Ravidas in Luttipahari under Baghmara police station and nabbed eight including Fuchan Miya, Abdul Rajjak, Bhagwan Das Mahavar, Vikash Mahavar, Kailash Mahavar, Rajesh Mahavar and his wife Sabita Devi, all the residents of Savai-Madhopur district of Rajasthan.

“During interrogation, they said that, they had come here on the invitation of Dinesh Ravidas who had searched a bride for Fuchan Miya an alleged of human trafficking,” said Police.

However, the alleged human traffickers denied of having any involvement of human trafficking earlier.

“Dinesh Ravidas is my brother in’law by relation and I got marry with Rajesh Mahavar, resident of Rajasthan in 2013,” said Sabita Devi claiming that she was the resident of Dumri area under Giridih district.

All have been detained and case under relevant sections would be filed after having received full details from Rajasthan police, said DSP.
