Organizers must seek permission to organize Fashion shows : Women Commission

Dhanbad : No fashion shows can be organized in the state without district administration’s permission as the State Commission for Women has issued a guideline to all the District Commissioners asking them to  ban on fashion shows without permission.

Mahua Maji, Chairperson, State Commission for Women,  told  that, innocent girls are being exploited on the name of fashion shows as such events become  means to come in contact with girls and later  push them in immoral activities.

“I have studied a number of cases at Ranchi in which, girl participants were later harassed by the members organizingsuch shows,” said Maji narrating some such cases.

Adding further, the chairperson expressing concern over the mushrooming of event organizations and firms said, in almost cases the district administration is unaware of the organizers as there are huge numbers of non-registered organizations involved in this business with no permanent offices.

“After coming across some  cases, I found that the intentions of organizers is to keep them in dilemmas   of providing platform to excel their talents so that they (girls) get entry in glamorous world of fashion and bollywood,” said Maji adding that later the innocent girls are being harassed and forced  into immoral activities like prostitution.

According to Maji, she has directed all the district commissioners of the state to keep close vigil on such events.

“It’s the duty of district administration to keep vigil on such events that may jeopardize the life of innocent girls,” said Maji adding that any such event   can only be organized after getting no objection certificate (NOC) from district administration.

Kripa Nand Jha, district commissioner, Dhanbad told that, the Stat Women Commission has given directive to inquire about the organizers and nature of event before giving them NOC.

“We have been asked to inquire about the event and organizer before giving them permission, especially regarding fashion shows,” said DC adding that so far no organizers approached them  for permission of suchan event.
