The communist party of India announced former JNU student union president kanhaiya Kumar´s candidature from Begusarai in Bihar on Sunday.

After being left out of the opposition alliance by RJD and Congress, the CPI decided to go alone. For now only Begisarai has been cleared in a meeting of state executive in Patna.

Now Mr. Kumar faces union minister and BJP leader Giriraj Singh in the seat. The RJD-congress combine is yet to announce a candidate in Begusarai.
