Dhanbad: A teacher who was convicted in financial anomaly in the college has been appointed as the examination controller of BSS Women’s college under Vinoba Bhave University (VBU) Hazaribagh.

This teacher was also allegedly involved indirectly through his brother in answer sheet evaluation fraud relating to Intermediate answer-books in 2013.

The teacher Prof Subodh Kumar has been appointed as the examination controller in the Bachelor final year examination that commenced here from today.

Notably, Court of first class judicial magistrate of Dhanbad court Mohammed Umar on March 17 sentenced to up to two year of imprisonment to members of the governing body of the College in connection of fraud committed by them in 1995 that was filed in court in 2004 following an inquiry ordered by the university.

The court found Subodh Kumar along his brother Sunil Kumar, who is also employee of the same college guilty under section 406 and 409 of IPC and sentenced two year of jail.

Besides former principal of the college Prof  Veena Sharma and members of governing council including former secretary of governing council  KK Sharma, NKP Singh , Vidiya Bhushan were convicted.

Prof Kumar along with his brother Sunil Kumar was also allegedly involved in increasing marks of examinees during evaluation of answer sheets in 13-14 in lieu of hefty sums.

Prof Kumar’s brother Sunil along with other seven teachers of different colleges were caught red-handed at a guest house in Dhanbad while dealing with candidates and parents for increasing their marks and were sent to jail.

Principal of the college Dr Karuna said, the college has already informed to university regarding the matter. “The university administration is aware of the matter but if takes no action we cannot do anything of our own,” said Dr Karuna.

VBU vice chancellor Dr Gurdeep Singh said he is not aware of the incident but now would initiate action when has received information.
