Parents raise voice against private schools

Dhanbad : Rattled by whimsical enhancement of tuition fee and violation of Right to Education (RTE) by private schools across the state, Jharkhand Abhibhawak Mahasangha (JAM) has strongly protested the action and resolved to rake up the issue with district administration.

In this regard a delegation of JAM met deputy commissioner of Dhanbad on Thursday and urged him into intervene in the matter.

Manoj Mishra, Secretary JAM alleged that none of the private school in the state follows RTE act properly as almost all the top schools of the state are found indulge in violating the norms of RTE.

“It seems that government don’t have any control on the private schools as they are taking arbitrary decisions by violating the norms under RTE but the state’s education department is mute spectator on the issue,” said Mishra.

Adding further, Mishra said, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Dhanbad KN Jha assured them that soon a meeting of all the private school principals and parents will be call on and he (DC) himself will preside the meet.

“It’s not the first time that schools are violating RTE. Since when this act have been implemented, the private schools are violating the act only for their monetary benefits.

They even demands donations for readmission or on the name of development fee,” alleged Mishra.

BJP leader Mukesh Pandey and Ranvijay Singh, who was also the part of delegation, said they will take the matter to the minister of Human Resource and Development (HRD) so that common procedure for admission could be implementing in the state.

“Soon a delegation of parents will meet with HRD minister regarding the RTE violations by private schools,” said Pandey.

However, District superintendent of Education (DSE) Dhanbad BB Singh has already sent letters to all the private schools asking about the details of admission procedure.

“A letter has been sent to all the schools to submit the details of admissions including the admission of students who belongs to the lower section of society.

The schools have also been asked about the criteria and parameters, which they adopted for screening the kids,” he said.

It should be mention here that under RTE act a school will have to admit 25 percent kids of the total admission from Below Poverty Line (BPL) who resides in the surroundings of that particular school in which they applied. During admission in nursery classes, the schools violate the norms and guidelines regarding admission under RTE.
