Brahmins demand job reservation on economic basis

Dhanbad : Cutting across party lines , politics and posts, Brahmins of different political parties, besides commoners  joined hands  and demand for job reservation on economic basis.

They also handed over a memorandum to Deputy Commissioner, Dhanbad that has been addressed to the President of India  containing  their demand.

Thousands of Brahmins under the banner of ‘All India Brahmin Samaj’  assembled today during  daylong meeting at Zila Parishad ground in Dhanbad, reiterated commitment  for  uplift unprivileged Brahmin community across state .

Satyanand Jha Batul, former Agriculture minister of the state, while addressing the gathering, said other communities have garnered political advantage through quota under OBC categories, the Bramhins, particularly those from economically backward sections, continue to suffer.

“Brahmin community should leave its political affiliations behind and work for the welfare of the entire community” said Batul.

Senior BJP leader and former Hazaribagh MP  Yadunath Pandey, who was present as the chief guest on the occasion expressing solidarity said, Brahmins should unite to get their rights.

“A Brahmin is on the top by virtue of their merits, but still a section of Brahmin is unprivileged.

Because of the reservation policies, they (unprivileged Brahmins) are yet to  get facelift their social status,” said Pandey demanding to abolish reservation on the basis of caste, creed and religion. Economic condition must be basis of the reservation, he said.

According to Pandey, under the present system of quota dispensation, which has been continuing for long, poor Bramhins would never be able to improve their economic condition.

Speakers stressed that the present system of reservation wasn't serving any purpose and that there was a need to rework on quota formula.

They felt that instead of going by caste identity and its divisive politics, the Union government should give reservation on the basis of the economic status of families.

The meeting was attended by Vijay Jha former chairman of Bokaro Industrial Area Development Authority (BIADA), Shri Ram Pandey, President Brahmin Samaj, HP Lata, BJP district President, Lalan Chaube Congress Leader, Balram Dubey along with other dignitaries of the state.
